JAWVOX
Joshua Walters is an internationally acclaimed comedic beatboxing performer, whose work has appeared on ABC, MTV, PBS and NPR. Walters lives in Oakland, California and regularly performs in the Bay Area to audiences ranging from 9 to 90.
In the last two years, Walters has performed throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. His full length solo play, Madhouse Rhythm, debuted in 2008 to critical acclaim. In 2002, Walters co-founded the DBSA (Depression Bipolar Support Alliance) Young Adults Chapter in San Francisco, one of the few support groups specifically for mentally ill young adults in the country. Walters speaks as a mental health educator and facilitates performance workshops for middle schools, high schools and colleges.
Currently Walters is an artist-in-resident at both The Hub of the JCCSF and the Climate Theatre in San Francisco where he is developing a new solo play, JAWVOX, due out late 2010.
